Spring Description
Satsuma Spring lies in a depression/ravine in a area of deep forest
adjoining the St. Johns River. The spring forms a semicircular pool 30
feet in diameter. The water looked clear and greenish from the author’s
vantagepoint 65 feet away, and the depth was only a few inches. The water
has a pronounced sulfur odor. Water from the spring forms a small run that
flows 350 feet into the St. Johns River. Another small spring run joins
the Satsuma run just below the pool on the SE side.
Use/Access
There does not appear to be any utilization of the spring. There are houses on the north and east sides of the pool and run, and there is a fish camp at the site.
