Full Directions
From downtown High Springs, drive northwest on U.S. 27/SR 20 about
2.5 miles to where the highway crosses the Santa Fe River. A launch ramp
and parking area are just past the river on the right (north) side of the
road. The spring is about half a mile downriver from the boatramp on the
left. Look for a small island in the river on the right and a circular
widening of the river on the left.

Spring Description
The spring is in the back left corner of the widening area a few feet
from the main channel. When visited in 2000, it was framed by fallen
trees that lay between it and the river. Water flows from a circular
cavity 8-10 feet deep. A log lay across the vent, splitting its flow
and causing slicks over an area perhaps 20 feet across. The water
was very clear. On June 1, 2002, two flows were clearly visible,
about 15 feet apart and each with a clear boil on the surface that was
2-5 feet in diameter. Native and exotic vegetation surround the spring,
including rotting mats of algae. T he spring silted easily when explored
and was slow to clear.
Use/Access
The spring cavity could be dived with relative ease, but was quick
to cloud.
Personal Impressions
A lovely little spring that is a refreshing dip after canoeing for
a while on a warm day.
