Maxwell and Evelyn Harrell Memorial Library

Liberty County is one of the least populated counties in the State of Florida. If you would like to get away from it all...come to Liberty County the Forgotten Frontier and visit the library.

Liberty County Public Library/Harrell Memorial Library is located in the Panhandle of Florida in Bristol. The library is a member of the Northwest Regional Library System. While this is the main library, there are now two branch libraries in the county. The Hosford Resource Center and the Sumatra Resource Center. These small libraries offer many library, informational and technological services. These three libraries serve a population of over 7,000. There are currently over 15,000 items in our total collections.

The Liberty County Public Library is a small rural library with a very large heart. It has been named Maxwell and Evelyn Harrell Memorial Library after Maxwell Harrell and his wife Evelyn. Without the Harrell's contribution, which matched funds from the State of Florida, the building of the library would not have been possible. The library building is now ten years old.
